As the first major international World Championships following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this year\u2019s Rowing Ireland team reflects a deliberate and strategic focus on athlete development, for the next Olympic and Paralympic cycle, and continued investment in the National Rowing Centre to underpin elite athlete pathway and success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2025 World Championship team features a dynamic blend of experienced internationals and exciting new talent, underlining Rowing Ireland\u2019s commitment to long-term success both on and off the water. This transitional year also sees several Olympians pursuing personal and professional development, with Rowing Ireland actively supporting them as they navigate the crucial phase between Olympic and Paralympic cycles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exciting Line-Ups and Storylines<\/strong>\u00a0<br>Fresh from her epic silver medal at the European Championships, Galway\u2019s double Olympian Fiona Murtagh will step into the women\u2019s single scull, adding star quality to a competitive field.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The men\u2019s double scull sees Olympic champion Fintan McCarthy pairing with Olympic bronze medallist Philip Doyle, forming a crew brimming with international pedigree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The women\u2019s four makes a strong return post the Paris Olympic Games, featuring returning Olympians, Natalie Long and Imogen Magner.&nbsp; The women\u2019s four is welcoming two new members to the team, Emma Waters and Aisling Hayes, Aisling made her debut at the European Championships earlier this year, while Emma is making her senior debut at this year\u2019s World Championships.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The men\u2019s pair of Nathan Timoney and Ross Corrigan are set to renew their partnership, following the 2024 Olympic Games. The men\u2019s quadruple scull sees a recognisable line up of Adam Murphy, Andrew Sheehan and Brian Colsh with the addition of experienced Olympian and World medallist Ronan Byrne returning to the mix.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2023 World Gold medallist Siobhan McCrohan continues her campaign in the lightweight single.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the women\u2019s double, Olympians Zo\u00eb Hyde and Margaret Cremen reunite following European Championships and Lucerne line ups, while Tokyo Olympic medallist Emily Hegarty partners with double Olympian Aoife Casey in the women\u2019s pair. Having spent the winter training and studying at UL in London.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jake McCarthy who was a finalist in the Lightweight men&#8217;s single scull at the Europeans earlier in the year competes in this event in Shanghai.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While medal winning Paralympian Tiarnan O\u2019Donnell will team up with young athlete Sadhbh N\u00ed Laoghaire following their medal winning success at Lucerne International regatta this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rowing Ireland\u2019s Lead Coach Dominic Casey said:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis year presents a valuable opportunity to look ahead to Los Angeles 2028, to develop talent, and to solidify the high-performance culture within our team.
