BLW1x | Sophia Monahan<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sophia Monahan (Shandon Boat Club) will compete in the lightweight women\u2019s single scull (LW1x). Monahan returns to the U23 World Championships after a top ten finish in the women\u2019s double sculls in Canada last year. Strong competition is expected from the Greek and Italian crews, both of whom medalled at the 2024 U23 European Championships. Clements brings valuable international experience, having finished fourth in the lightweight single scull (LW1x) at the 2025 Senior European Championships earlier this year. The Greek crew is expected to be a top contender, featuring Olympic bronze medallist Dimitra Kontou, who also claimed silver at the 2025 European Championships. With 23 crews entered, this is one of the most competitive events of the championships. She will face strong competition from Olympian Aurelia-Maxima Janzen of Switzerland, who is making her fifth appearance at the U23 World Championships.
