This prestigious event represents the pinnacle of the domestic rowing calendar, bringing together over 1,200 athletes for a weekend of thrilling competition. With an impressive 904 crews entered and over 150 races scheduled, spectators can look forward to an action-packed weekend of high-quality racing.

The Championships mark the pinnacle of the domestic rowing season, showcasing a broad spectrum of talent across junior, novice, club, intermediate, and senior levels, highlighting Ireland’s depth of talent and club dedication.

This year also celebrates a major milestone — the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s first women’s crew at the World Rowing Championships, a historic moment to be commemorated during Friday’s “Finish Line” Lunch at the NRC, a commemorative piece designed by Kenny McDonald will be presented to honour these trailblazers and their clubs — Commercial Rowing Club and Skibbereen Rowing Club.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said:

“The Irish Rowing Championships stand as a powerful reflection of the strength, determination, and community spirit that define our rowing clubs and athletes across Ireland. I commend Rowing Ireland for their unwavering commitment to developing the sport at every level, and for hosting an event that honours both the legacy and the future of Irish rowing. I’m especially pleased to see the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s first women’s crew being celebrated this weekend — a fitting tribute to the pioneers who paved the way. I wish all athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters every success for what promises to be an inspiring and memorable event.”

Michelle Carpenter, CEO of Rowing Ireland, added:

“These Championships are a celebration of everything Rowing Ireland represents — excellence, community, and progress. It’s truly inspiring to see over 900 crews from clubs of all sizes coming together to compete at the highest level.

For me, these Championships are deeply personal. I still remember the nerves of rowing in my first Irish Championships back in 1987, and again in 2018 as a Masters competitor, the nerves never quite go away! That’s part of what makes this event so special — the thrill of competition, no matter your age or experience.

I’m also incredibly proud of how far we’ve come on the journey toward gender equality in our sport. This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s first women’s crew competing on the world stage — a milestone that reminds us of the trailblazers who paved the way. But it’s not just a story of 50 years ago when opportunities for women were still limited in many ways. Today, we have women leading at every level — with a female CEO and President at the helm of Rowing Ireland, and gender balance within our High-Performance athletes and coaching team. That progress reflects not just change, but real commitment to equality and inclusion, on and off the water.”

Spectator Information

Join us in person at the National Rowing Centre in Farran Woods, where fans can enjoy live racing, delicious food vendors, and the Rowing Ireland Greenblades shop with official merchandise.

Inside, we will have a shop serving snacks, ice creams and cold drinks.
