Overview:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This comprehensive course will blend online modules with in-person participation in water and gym-based activities, spanning a period of six months.The aim of the course is to give you the expertise to guide athletes up to underage and adult national level competition and trialling for the Irish rowing team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This syllabus has been developed using teaching best practices in conjunction with Sport Ireland Coaching. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Rowing Ireland and Sport Ireland Coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrolment Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for Level Two, you must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • You should be 19 years of age or older and actively involved in coaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • You must be a registered member of Rowing Ireland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Possess a Level One coaching certificate and have at least two seasons of coaching experience following the completion of the Level One course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Agree to adhere to the Rowing Ireland Safety Code and the Code of Ethics\/Good Conduct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Recent completion of Garda Vetting\/AccessNI within the last three years and attendance at a Safeguarding course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Willingness to attend additional seminars and workshops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Provide a detailed coaching history for our assessment. We reserve the right to defer applicants who do not meet our criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Course Content<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The Level Two Coaching Course will cover a wide range of topics, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Long-term Athlete Pathway<\/td>Rowing Physiology<\/td><\/tr>
    The Female Triad<\/td>Elite and Lightweight Rowing<\/td><\/tr>
    Season and Event Planning <\/td>Nutrition<\/td><\/tr>
    The Rowing Ireland Technical Model<\/td>Drills and Technique Development<\/td><\/tr>
    Rigging Theory and Application<\/td>Observed Assessments with a Level 3 coach<\/td><\/tr>
    Lactate Testing Theory and Practice<\/td>Strength and Conditioning<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Course Expectations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    As part of the course, coaches will be expected to present on various topics such as rigging, technique, and training program development for group discussion. Critical analysis of both personal and fellow coaches’ presentations is encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Coaches will need to maintain a coaching log for a minimum of three months to demonstrate the application of course learnings. This should showcase how your coaching philosophy influences your training programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Additionally, you’ll participate in a regional development camp with your athletes or contribute to running a provincial development camp. Coaches will be assigned a development task during the camp to further enhance their coaching skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Lastly, guest lectures from senior coaches and athletes from the High-Performance environment will share their valuable experiences with you throughout the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This is the third step on the Rowing Ireland \u2018Coaching Pathway\u2019 and completion of the course will certify you as a Level 2 Coach in your club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Course Fee:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    The full cost of the course is \u20ac650. However, to facilitate payment, we will split the cost into more manageable amounts over the six month course period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
