{"id":21396,"date":"2023-06-28T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rowingireland.ie\/?p=21396"},"modified":"2023-06-12T13:23:15","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T12:23:15","slug":"what-happens-during-a-drug-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rowingireland.ie\/what-happens-during-a-drug-test\/","title":{"rendered":"What Happens During a Drug Test"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The final week of the Anti-Doping educational videos is to educate the athletes on what happens during a drug test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is essential that athletes learn their rights and responsibilities as athletes during these tests and what to expect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rights <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Request to see the testers ID cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring a representative with you e.g. parent, team doctor, coach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request to have an interpreter (if necessary)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request information regarding the sample collection procedure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request necessary modifications to the sample collection procedure if you&nbsp; have an impairment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request a delay&nbsp; in reporting to the Doping Control Station (DCS), where the tester will remain with you, for valid reasons such as:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In-Competition: Participation in a victory ceremony; Fulfillment of&nbsp; media&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; commitments; Competing in further competitions; Performing a warm down; Receiving necessary medical treatment; Locating a representative and\/or interpreter; Obtaining photo identification; Any other exceptional circumstances which may be justified, and which shall be documented&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Out-of-Competition: Locating a representative and\/or interpreter; Completing a training session; Receiving necessary medical treatment; Obtaining photo identification; Any other exceptional circumstances which can be justified, and which shall be documented<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be provided with a choice of a minimum of 3 sample collection equipment including sample collection vessels and kits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Record comments about the sample collection procedure on the Doping Control Form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive copies of all documentation you have signed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Co-operate with the DCO and Chaperones during the sample collection procedure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must stay within the sight of the DCO\/Chaperone at all times until you have provided your sample and are released by the DCO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must comply with the sample collection procedures; the first sample that you provide, after notification, must be at the DCS; you must retain control of your urine sample until it is securely sealed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should avoid excessive re-hydration as a there is a requirement to produce a sample with a suitable Specific Gravity for analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report immediately to the Doping Control Station (DCS) for a test unless there is a valid reason for a delay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce photo identification, when requested, to the DCO\/Chaperone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure all applicable documentation is accurate, complete and signed off<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you choose to consume food or fluids prior to providing a sample it is at your own risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the video below now!
